Escalators

Step-free Access Project. Working with a major contractor we assisted with the assessment of the existing escalators. London Underground was very concerned that the sinking of new shafts could disrupt the existing escalators. We undertook a full modelling and analysis of the escalator structure to consider its sensitivity to predicted ground movements following rigorous 3D ground modelling undertaken by specialist geotechnical engineers. We designed an innovative system that allowed the precise monitoring of the alignment of the escalator and also the re-levelling and re-alignment of the entire escalator should it prove necessary. All hydraulic and structural alterations were designed by us.
