It has been almost 18 months since our UK Government announced home working following the efforts to contain the worldwide pandemic of Covid19. The UK Government was also very clear that people who work in critical national infrastructure and construction are to continue, as this is essential to keeping the country operating and supporting sectors and employers. As Richter and its group companies provide specialist technical services to these industries to enable construction activity to proceed, it was necessary for us to remain open for business to ensure we can enable these wheels of industry to safely turn.
Our Information Technology systems have been put into a new service condition resulting from this, as they have been required to keep our engineering teams working throughout the country and keeping Richter offices all connected to each other with the engineering systems and information we have in place. This was possible due to our in-house team of IT experts. Given their work has largely gone unnoticed, which is a testament to the continued effort by them, now that our offices are returning to a place of full time work we felt it right that our IT team get the recognition for everything they have achieved for us.
So please may we introduce Paul Giles as Group IT Manager. Following 14 years' with previous employer, Laing O’Rourke, Paul delivered multiple IT services, projects, infrastructure, and support to construction projects like Hinkley Point C, Tideway Tunnel, HS2, EWR and Sizewell C.
Jordan Lance, Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer has also joined us from Laing O’Rourke where he too delivered IT infrastructure, networks and IT projects to construction projects like Hinkley Point C, EWR, Llanfrechfa Grange University Hospital and NLE.
Both Paul and Jordan bring lots of experience, skills and knowledge from working in the construction industry that will improve the IT experience and support Richter with its future growth strategy. The team have also had the time to upgrade our IT systems during the pandemic as the business looks to the future and embraces the digital way and emerging technologies in the transfer and data protection of information and software.
As a business, we thank you for all that you have done to minimise the impact COVID19 has had on our firm, and to set us up as we move forward. It is been very much appreciated.
