Following full funding last year from Tees Valley Combined Authority and the Government, phase one of the £35m redevelopment of Middlesbrough Station has successfully been reached.
To accommodate the Azuma trains ahead of LNER bringing its Middlesbrough to London service into operation from December, works on the extension of platform two were completed in June 2021. Phase two of the scheme is expected to start later in the year.
Richter provided support with working platforms, access ramps, and site hoardings to client, Story Contracting.
To ensure successful delivery in time for the trialing of the fleet, the site team required an easy, but safe access for plant and personnel crossing the thoroughfare.
The temporary works provided, allowed safe access and an effective working area within in the confines of the track’s wide-way for the installation of the platform piles and subsequent superstructure. A compacted ramp and platform including Vortok fencing, ensured an easy installation and cost-effective approach.
