Richter are proud to announce that Ian Horton-Plant and Ray Filip have combined to offer Training in Temporary Works Management, Engineering and Design.

The offering also includes procedural development and auditing drawing on years of practical experience and the ability to help your business protect itself from the risks inherent in temporary works.

Lead by Ian and Ray, Richter with RFK Consult can provide industry-leading training and procedural support drawing on our huge pool of Temporary Works specialists.

Ian joined Richter in July 2024 as Director of Temporary Works Management & Training. Prior to starting his career in Civil Engineering, Ian Horton-Plant trained as a teacher. Throughout his career he taught and trained his fellow engineers so they could make better decisions on site. Whilst Head of Temporary Works, Ian developed widely adopted training modules that illustrated the principles of temporary works and assisted in the development of engineers across the company and wider industry. We spoke with Ian, and he said “I’m extremely proud to have been given this opportunity. My aim has always been to help people understand the principles underlying Temporary Works and to have the mighty Richter as a platform to do it is incredible. I keep pinching myself that I now get to work with Ray Filip who is the best Temporary Works trainer in the business. They are big shoes to fill, and I will endeavour to build on his amazing contribution.”

Ray Filip, a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 25 years of Temporary Works training experience, joins us to enhance our offerings for training with his years of expertise. As a benchmark, when Civil Engineers think of Temporary Works Training, they think about Ray Filip of RKF Consult and his excellent courses on management, engineering, and design. He has influenced thousands of people both in person while training and in his written guidance on formwork, rebar, and even the British Standard for Temporary Works itself. When we spoke with Ray he said “I am delighted to be joining the team at Richter and working closely with Ian. Our specialised training services in temporary works will complement Richter’s existing engineering capabilities, allowing us to offer comprehensive solutions to our clients.”

Roger Tice CEng FICE, Group Managing Director, commented, "Having Ray Filip join Richter to continue to deliver his unrivalled Temporary Works Training course to prospective candidates, both now and for the future will facilitate the educational base needed to understand one’s obligations to BS5975, but with real time case studies showcasing current and up to date construction works that Richter is actively engaged on. With Ian Horton-Plant taking over the reins in time, Richter will be able to take forward the years of training service already set by RKF Consult seamlessly"

Abouzar Jahanshahi, Managing Director of Richter, said, “Today marks a very special day in the history of our practice. Having known Ray for years, from my first Temporary Works Awareness course in the early stages of my career to present time, it is a true privilege and honour to have the chance to build on Ray’s respectable legacy. I am looking forward to witnessing this new chapter where Ian’s expertise and outstanding leadership, combined with wider Richter group’s technical talents and support teams, brings significant contributions to our industry.”

We extend a warm welcome to Ray and look forward to the significant contributions he will make to our team.
